Emergence Mentoring Choreographer Matt Szczerek

MATT SZCZEREK is a Dublin based (contemporary-urban) Dance Artist, choreographer and a professional member of Dance Ireland. Matt’s style often traverses disciplines, blending aspects of krump, whacking and ghetto grove into his routines. He’s equipped with an array of skills and is readily able to translate them into movements that express ideas and stories.

Over the last three years he has danced regularly with CoisCéim Dance Theatre, performing as a principal dancer in THE WOLF AND PETER (2015), and in RTE’S 1916 CENTENARY performance at Bord Gais Energy Theatre, choreographed by David Bolger. His own choreographic work EMERSION (2016) was performed as part of OIL&WATER (2016), a collaboration with Cathy Coughlan (HAVOC), supported by The Arts Council and South Dublin County Council.

Matt has programmed and delivered several international urban dance events, including the upcoming Dance 2 Connect Festival at the Civic Tallaght, and and was recently invited to teach Master Classes in Torres Vedras (Portugal) at Danca no Coracao. He continues to expand an awareness of urban dance forms through weekly classes/events around Dublin City Centre, bringing together dance communities, musicians and videographers.
