Sub Sounds 2017 now accepting applications

Sub Sounds is a music education programme that is funded by Music Generation South Dublin. It is managed and delivered in a partnership between Alternative Entertainments and CONTACT Studio. CONTACT Studio is a South Dublin County Arts Office initiative.

Sub Sounds offers a 6-month full music experience to young musicians in South Dublin County. It runs from October till April culminating in a performance in The Grand Social music venue in Dublin city and a recording session in Windmill Lane Studios. Participants work with experienced musicians Martin Moran, Elton Mullally and Gerry Horan who help them to develop their songs, their musicianship and their creativity. They will also work with guest mentors - highly regarded musicians who give them some insight into what life is like for a professional musician, how they create their work and how they make a living! Past guests have included Niamh Farrell and Podge McNamee (Ham Sandwich); Graham Hopkins (Glen Hansard, The Frames, Therapy?); Dave Hingerty (Kila, The Frames); Brendan Fennessey (O Emperor); Cat Dowling; Carol Keogh and Keeley Moss.

The programme takes place in RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre, and is open to young people aged 13 - 18. To apply to take part please complete this application form and return it to southdublinsubsounds@gmail.com, or send by post to Suburban Sounds, ℅ Alternative Entertainments, RUA RED, South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght D24.
