Meet Creative Campus’15 Curator: Catherine Barragry

Catherine Barragry is a Dublin-based artist who works in sculpture, performance and immersive events. These are lightly held or fused together using humble and often reversible processes. The outcomes of these processes are fragile and contingent, so that the work emits a vulnerable human presence. Barragry received her BA at the Department of Sculpture and Expanded Practices at NCAD, Dublin, and later completed a practice-based Masters there in 2010. Barragry has received bursary funding from the Arts Council of Ireland (2013) and has also received support from Dublin City Council’s Arts Office. Barragry recently completed a residency at the Firestation Artist Studios (2011-2014) where she returned to making objects, alongside a more immaterial practice. Catherine has worked in a variety of community situations as an artist and facilitator and is interested in situating contemporary art in society through grassroots action and discussion.
